A selection of embellished etchings by artist Susan Conner Steinberg, titled American Oystercatcher. These three prints depict the titular bird standing on a sandy beach, the composition of which is tweaked for each iteration. One proof features the bird and large Iguana rendered with frenetic, layered linework, while another is heavily applied with aquatint, shrouding the bird in textured shadow with pops of red pigment. Another composition features a painted embellished rendering of the subject. To the lower margins of the former two prints is a handwritten artist signature and title alongside a date (1990), while the pure etching features the initials ‘WP’, indicating that it is a working proof.

Condition

- slight wear to deckled edges of paper.
