Signed

A circa 1930s color etching on paper titled La Nièvre by artist Pierre. The piece depicts a bucolic French landscape scene along the Nièvre river. A small cottage, green hillside, blue skies and colorful foliage are reflected in the peaceful, winding river below. The work is signed by hand to the lower right and titled to the lower left. It is additionally marked ‘302’ and “SZL” in plate to the lower left, denoting the work as a print published by the Sydney Z. Lucas Paris Etching Society. The piece is presented under French matting in a gold tone wooden frame fitted with a sawtooth hanger to the verso.

Condition

- to fair; discoloration, foxing and toning to print; toning and stains to matting; tears to inner edge of mat; edge wear and chips to frame; no frame glass.
