An antique sterling silver cigarette case by Stokes & Ireland Ltd. of Chester, England. This piece features a rectangular shape with an engraved laurel leaf and floral swag design on the lid, accented with scrolled foliate and ribbons, as well as a personalized engraving in the center. The interior has a fabric cigarette holding arm and the side is stamped with the maker’s mark ‘S.I. Ld’ alongside hallmarks for sterling, the city of Chester, and 1911. The case is presented with a sterling silver match safe by an unknown London maker, stamped with hallmarks for sterling and 1901. The inside is labeled, ‘Nelson J. Edwards 74 Cheapside, London, E.C.’ The total approximate weight is 4.96 ozt.
