Item Details

A collection of three engravings on paper depicting Native Americans. The first work depicts Seneca Chief Sagoyewatha ‘Red Jacket’ and is based after American wood engraver John William Orr (1815–1887). Signed in plate ‘J.W. Orr’. The second and third work are both etchings after Karl Bodmer (1809-1893). Titled Group of Saukie and Fox Indians and Dacotah Woman and Assiniboin Girl. Each work is presented matted in off white mats without frames. To the verso, each work includes newspaper clippings providing additional information regarding the images.

Condition

- to fair; some wear around the edges of the mat; areas of discoloration around the face of the mat; some areas of foxing to the face of the paper; one paper is crinkled and ripped.
