A collection of forty-six late nineteenth century Diableries stereoview cards including several from the 1860s. Each card includes two albumen photographs, many of which are on tissue between cardboard mats, some hand-colored, and a few that are a copy of a tissue stereoview. Images depict the life of the devil in various scenes, the Seven Deadly Sins, the Temptation of St. Anthony, Le Jugement Dernier, Salle de Jeu Chez Satan, Les Caves de Satan, Les Folies Humaines, and more. Some are signed ‘Hennetier’ or ‘Habert’ in plate; many are marked with pencil to the verso including the approximate date, the possible scene depicted, the possible photographer, and note whether they are signed. Some published by Union View Co, other publishers unknown.

Condition

- many are in fair shape including tears, stains, adhesive residue, and wrinkling throughout photos and mats; wear throughout card edges; many are stored in acetate slipcases.
