A watercolor painting on paper titled Port Vendres by listed artist Edgar Yaeger (American; 1904-1997), dated mid 20th century. The work depicts an intricate architectural landscape featuring residential buildings located in the French Mediterranean commune, Port-Vendres. To the verso, a gestural graphite sketch is included. The piece is signed and titled to the lower right. The composition is presented unframed.

Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Edgar Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
