A hand-knotted Persian pictorial rug/wall hanging. This wool accent rug is rendered in a palette of scarlet, cream, powder blue, rose, terracotta and chartreuse. It features a pictorial lozenge grounded in cream and populated with images of long-tailed songbirds amid flowers and foliage. The lozenge rests on a scarlet field, with a rose in each corner. Framing the field is a wide chartreuse border featuring a herati pattern incorporating palmettes and scrolling foliage. Selvedges are overcast, ends finishing with long ivory warp fringe. Leather stips are sewn under selvedges. The rug is unlabeled.
