A hand-knotted Afshar long wool area rug. This wool area rug features a color palette of carnelian, cobalt, burnt orange, and turquoise. The field is decorated with a large central hexagonal medallion with bird forms to either end, and floral and figurative elements throughout. It has multiple borders including sawtooth, floral, and boteh motifs. The rug has overcast selvedges and short fringe to either end. No visible maker’s marks are present.
