A hand-knotted Hamadan wool palace runner. This large rug is rendered in a palette of scarlet, cobalt, persimmon, ivory, powder blue, and taupe. The scarlet colored field begins with three serrated hexagonal medallions infilled with a branched form ending with cruciform elements. The field also features palmettes, as well as other floral and figurative elements. The rug has a main herati border with a blue ground flanked on either side by meandering floral guard borders. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and a white cotton warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
