Semi-Antique Hand-Knotted Persian Sarouk Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Sarouk wool area rug. This rug features a bold palette of crimson, indigo, dusty rose, fern, pink, ivory, goldenrod, and vermillion. The crimson-colored field begins with a central floral medallion that blends seamlessly with an abundance of flower bouquets and sprays clustered throughout the piece. Framing the field is a compound border patterned with flowers, palmettes, vases, and an arched frame with lancet leaves, along with meandering guard edge borders. The rug is finished with overcast edges and a short kilim skirt with natural warp fringe. There are no maker’s marks, and blue weft threads can be seen throughout to the underside.
