Hand-Knotted Persian Hamadan Area Rug
Item Details
A Persian Hamadan area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in an abrashed palette of vermillion, sapphire, teal, peach, indigo, orange, and ivory. It features a semi-freeform design beginning with an irregularly shaped lozenge medallion with irregular pendants. Populating the field are vines, flowering plants, sprays of flowers, and palmettes in a vertically asymmetrical design. The field is framed with layered, stepped spandrels and compound borders including a colorful barber pole design and meandering blossoms. The selvedges are overcast, and the rug finishes at each end with cotton warp fringe. The rug is unlabeled.
