Hand-Knotted Persian Qashqai Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Qashqai area rug. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of garnet, charcoal, black, tangerine and cream. It begins with a vertical row of three Qashqai medallions grounded in charcoal, over a garnet field with black spandrels. The field and corners are filled with tribal motifs, including tulips and rosettes. Each corner features a small medallion. Framing the field are two borders, featuring multicolored geometric patterns over garnet and meandering carnations over cream. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with multicolored, variegated warp fringe made of goat hair. It is unlabeled.
