Metal content: 75% copper, 25% nickel. Mintage: 5,474,300. First year this was produced. Diameter: 21.2 mm. Weight: approximately 5 grams. Shield Nickels – Designer: James Barton Longacre. Metal content: 75% Copper, 25% Nickel. Diameter: 20.5 mm. Weight: approximately 5 grams (each). Coins are circulated and vary from poor to good condition.
