Yoshida Toshi "Snow Country" Shin-hanga Woodblock Print with "Jikoku" Seal

A Japanese color woodblock print titled Snow Country (雪國) on paper by listed artist Toshi Yoshida (遠志 吉田, 1911-1995). This print depicts a vast landscape of fields that lead into large hills crossed with lines of trees. The ground is covered in freshly-fallen snow. This piece has a red ‘Yoshida zō’ (吉田造) seal to the lower right. The right margin bears a ‘self-carved’ jikoku (自刻) mark, as well as the printed date (1955, 一九五五年作), and the title in Japanese. A signature and title by hand is present to the lower margin. It is presented behind a black mat and glass in a black frame with wire to the verso for hanging.

- discoloration throughout paper; foxing marks particularly to lower center; scratches and wear throughout finish of frame.
