An antique etching on paper titled The Pumpkin Sellers by Austrian artist Theodor Alphons (1860-1897) after a painting by Austrian genre painter Ludwig Passini (1832-1903). This piece depicts a group of women gathered at the edge of a canal, where three men have tied a large rowboat filled with pumpkins to sell in town. It is signed in plate twice and dated 1876 to the lower left by Passini and signed by hand to the lower right by Alphons. The work is attributed to the verso and presented behind a mat and glass in a stained wood frame with wire to the verso for hanging.
Condition
- discoloration to print paper; edge wear to frame; wear to back of frame with remnants of backing paper.
