An artist’s proof lithograph on paper by listed artist Anthony Scornavacca (American, 1926 – 1986), dated 1972. In sparse and curving line work, the piece suggests, rather than depicts, the figure in a half-length pose. To the lower margin is the edition, signature, and date.
Scornavacca was known for his modernist abstract figural works. The artist received his formal education from the prestigious Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. During the 1950s, the artist relocated from New York to Miami, Florida, where he was a successful gallery owner. Today, Scornavacca’s works can be found in private and public collections including the High Museum of Art (Atlanta, Georgia) and the Hood Museum of Art (Dartmouth College; Hanover, New Hampshire).
