Antique Etruscan Majolica with Vintage Sarreguemines Cake Stands

A three piece selection of compotes and a cake plate including majolica by Sarreguemines and Griffin Smith & Hill. Featured is an antique compote by Griffin Smith & Hill, also known as Etruscan Majolica, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. This earthenware piece is relief molded with green leaves and brown branches on a pink ground. It rests on a pedestal base in the likeness of a tree trunk covered with foliate vines. The piece bears an impressed mark to the base dated c 1878-89. It is accompanied by a vintage compote by Sarreguemines, relief molded with a polychrome fruit motif on a yellow and green foliate ground. The piece bears a series of impressed marks to the base, likely dated to the first half of the 20th century. A domed glass cake plate is also included. This piece bears no discernible maker’s marks.
