Brazilian Mixed Media "Gemstone Mask" with Amethyst and Agate Embellishments

A circa 2000 Brazilian mixed media Gemstone Mask. The wall mask uses a combination of porongo gourd and clay, embellished with amethyst, agate, dyed agate and carnelian, to depict a stylized face with bulbous head, tapering to a small pointed chin. The mask features an amethyst geode to the center of the forehead, bordered with multicolored stones, as well as a pair of stone-embellished dangling earrings. The work is unsigned but includes a retail tag from Silver Streak Industries explaining the mask’s design and materials.
Condition
- large cracks running horizontally across top of mask, with visible glued repairs; scattered chips, markings, scratches and surface wear; item may be missing stones or other small embellishments; stains and discoloration.
