A West African carved and painted wood Go Ge mask from the Dan people of Côte d’Ivoire and Liberia. The mask features an elliptical shape with carved features and painted black and red embellishments. The piece also includes a beard of twine fibers and a headband of fabric and cowrie shells. The item is marked ‘Made in Ivory Coast, Dan’ to the interior.
