Peter Keil Acrylic Painting on Masonite "My Valentine"
Item Details
An acrylic painting on masonite very well-listed and prolific contemporary German Neo-Expressionist Peter Robert Keil (Berlin; born 1942), titled My Valentine. The painting depicts a figure painted in thick black outlines against broad green, yellow, and pink shapes against a pale blue background. The painting is signed in black to the lower left and is titled to the verso. It is presented without matting or framing, awaiting your choice of presentation.
Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miro. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.
