Hand-Knotted Persian Bijar Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Bijar area rug. This rug features a central medallion containing a floral lattice repeat and scarlet directional palmettes that are echoed with attached pendants that extend into a field of floral arabesques with a palette of indigo, robin’s egg, and camel with accents of scarlet and moss green in a white ground. The field is capped with indigo spandrels containing floral vases and boteh motifs and surrounded by a leaf and blossom border. It is finished with overcast edges and a short warp fringe. There are no maker’s marks or tags.
