Chinese Style Gilt Ormolu Dragon Handled Compote

A chinese style gilt ormolu compote. This vessel features a pierced, fretwork rim and pair of molded dragon handles which curl around the shallow well. The bowl is relief molded with a battle scene and framed by guardian lion masks. The piece rests on elaborately scrolled metal feet and bears no discernible maker’s marks.

Condition

- to fair; plastic is recessing and cracked away from metal, previous glue residue to base; spots of wear to gilt finish; minor marks and faint scratches.
