A 1725-6 set of five small volumes of The Odyssey of Homer translated by noted English poet Alexander Pope (1688-1744). Published in London by Bernard Lintot between 1725 and 1726, an early edition, this was likely preceded by the subscriber’s issue in the same years. This landmark translation of Homer’s Odyssey by Pope features illustrations preceding the start of each of the twenty-four books in the five volumes. Uniformly bound in full contemporary calf, gilt tooling to the spine with red brown morocco labels. Page edges are stained black.
