Published in 1848 by D. Appleton & Company in New York. Includes all thirty engraved maps as listed on pages 5 and 6, some of which fold out. Bound in red cloth covered boards with stamped and gilt titles on both the font board and spine. Protected with a non-original, thin plastic jacket. Housed in a paper covered slipcase with a charming steamboat illustration.

Condition
- light wear to spine edges with small split in the cloth near the top, lightly bumped corners. Toning to paper. Edge of Map #1 slightly crumpled, not affecting map. Small tear to Map #3, not affecting map or text. Slight tears and peeling to paper covering of slipcase. Book has thin plastic jacket.
