A pairing of two books and two pieces of ephemera from the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. Presented is a leather bound volume titled The Standard Guide to Chicago: Illustrated World’s Fair Edition written and compiled by John J. Flinn (1893, The Chicago Standard Guide Co). Also included is a booklet titled Glimpses of the World’s Fair: A Selection of Gems of the White City and the Midway Plaisance (1893, Laird & Lee Publishers). An admission ticket and a Capitol Stock certificate for five shares complete this collection.
Condition
- the guide book has damage to the cover, missing the outer cover of the spine; cover of booklet is somewhat tattered; stock certificate has some creases and folds; some discoloration including two brown streaks on admission ticket.
