Antique Victorian Eastlake Walnut Bookcase with Two Drawers, Late 19th Century
Item Details
An antique Victorian Eastlake walnut bookcase with two drawers, late 19th century. The case features a rectangular top projecting above a molded and burled frieze over a pair of glazed doors with gilt, wreath-form pulls. The doors are carved with sunrise motifs and applied with reeded moldings before four adjustable shelves. Flanking the doors are burled pilasters with turned capitals continuing to a pair of aligned and dovetailed, base drawers. The drawers are fitted with brass handles and escutcheons and the bookcase rises on stile legs. The back appears to be inscribed ‘482’, otherwise it is unmarked by the maker.
