Antique Victorian Aesthetic Movement Walnut and Tile-Mounted Hanging Shelf
Item Details
An antique Victorian Aesthetic Movement walnut and tile-mounted hanging shelf. The shelf features an arched and molded cornice centered by a corbel-type bracket with a belted-ball finial. The bracket is further embellished with an ebonized panel incised with a script ‘T’. Directly below is a ceramic, floral tile above four open shelves, three of which have brass tacks lining the bottom edges. The exterior, side panels are applied with simulated, mortise-and-tenon style joints and pegs while the centers are mounted with leaf-decorated tiles. The underside is backed by trefoil and quatrefoil brackets. It is unmarked by the maker.
