An antique lidded firkin by Ephraim Murdock, Jr., late 19th century. The mixed wood firkin features a round, removable lid above a graduated and stave-constructed body reinforced with single-finger bands and copper tacks. It has a bentwood, swing handle and the front retains remnants of the original paper label, part of which reads ‘New Jersey’. The lid is marked ‘Ephraim Murdock Jr.’

Condition
- scattered scratches, marks, and chips/losses; extensive loss to original paper label with remnants being brittle and faded; band around lid with a couple of cracks as well as some losses along bottom edge; bands around body are loose; other minor imperfections as would be expected with age and use.
