A Charles Lindbergh Spirit of St Louis machine-woven commemorative tapestry. Made in 1927 in France, just after Charles Lindbergh completed the first solo airplane journey across the Atlantic Ocean from New York to Paris, the tapestry features a central portrait of Charles Lindbergh, wearing the Legion D’honneur with his airplane “The Spirit of St Louis” in the background. To his left, his plane is flying above the New York City skyline complete with the Statue of Liberty. To his right, his plane is over the Parisian skyline. It is marked on the back “Made in France” and “Registered.”
