Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Hamadan wool area rug. This rug is rendered in an abrash palette of salmon to madder red, sapphire, clementine, ivory, mocha, emerald, and sepia. The salmon to madder red hued field begins with a sapphire serrated lozenge with a hexagonal medallion ending in arrows, along with leaf and floral motifs. The remainder of the field features geometrically designed floral, leaf, diamond and X-shaped motifs. Framing the field is a main leaf and blossom meander border, along with a boteh chain, and a meandering guard border. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and an extremely short cotton warp fringe to the ends. The underside is labeled ‘Made in Iran’.
