A hand-knotted Persian Hamadan area rug. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of red, charcoal, ivory, turquoise and celadon. It begins with a large pendant medallion grounded in red over a contoured, charcoal field with red spandrels and incursions. Populating the field, spandrels and medallion are geometric palmettes, vines and abstract elements. The field is framed by four borders, including a geometric meander pattern over charcoal. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
