Item Details
A vintage handwoven and embroidered Moroccan area rug. This wool and cotton rug has been woven in shades of ivory, wine, aqua, black, ivory, salmon, and squash. The design begins with three densely patterned compartment that incorporates latticework, honeycomb, X, bracketed geometric forms, vertebrae, and gridded motifs. A frame of eight-pointed stars and a second border of X devices in a checkerboard grid surround the field. The selvedges have been finished by hand and there are short plain woven skirts and fringe at each end. The rug is not marked.
