Handwoven and Embroidered Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A handwoven and embroidered wool area rug. The rug has been created using black and ivory wool. An open diamond ‘medallion’ is suggested in the center by an assemblage of design motifs which include horse shoes, stylized butterflies, and stepped diamonds. Small diamonds described by lines are in rows on either end of the medallion while stylized lobed flower motifs are placed along the long sides. A row of geometric split leaf and flower bands have been placed near each end. There are narrow bands of black, ivory, and checks above the twisted fringe. The rug is not marked.
