Item Details
An antique handwoven Caucasian wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a significant abrash palette of camel, indigo, sky blue, pale yellow, madder red, jade, and sepia. The indigo hued field features a lattice of guls infilled with kaikalak motifs in alternating colors, similar to Moghan medallions. Framing the field is a repeated quaterfoil animal head medallion main border, along with a running water, and an S motif patterned guard borders. Finishing this rug are remnants of triple overcast selvedges, and wool warp fringe to the ends. This rug is unlabeled.
