Swoon (Caledonia Curry) is a street artist known for her site-specific installations, life-size prints, and paper cutouts. Her influences range from Käthe Kollwitz (German, 1867 – 1945) to Indonesian shadow puppets. The artist’s work concentrates on portraits. Swoon’s portraits seek to capture the stored experiences of the sitter in order to build connections with viewers. The artist received her formal art education from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn (BFA). Her major solo exhibitions include the Brooklyn Museum, MoMA, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston; and more.
