An ink illustration on paperboard for the Western story A Thousand Crooked Miles by well-listed artist Lorence F. Bjorklund (American; 1911-1978). The work is initialed to the lower right within the imagery and has an informational inscription to the lower right margin and verso, as well as a stamp to the verso reading “L. F. Bjorklund, Croton Falls N. Y”. The piece is presented unframed in a protective acetate sleeve.

Born in Minnesota, Bjorklund was known for his Western genre scenes. Bjorklund earned his first education in art as an apprentice to a mural painter and drawing lessons from his father. In 1927, he received a scholarship to study art at the Pratt Institute. During this time, he illustrated Western genre pulp publications. Throughout his career, his illustrations were published in over 300 books, including some that Bjorklund authored. He is listed in the 1975 book Fifty Great Western Illustrators by Jeff Dykes.

- to fair; overall discoloration to the paper including foxing and discolored adhesive residue; minor amounts of denting to the corners.
