John Harris Hand-Colored Engraving "Deane the Seat of Sr Henry Oxenden Bart."

An antique hand-colored engraving on paper by engraver John Harris (c.1680–1740) after drawings by English draughtsman Thomas Badeslade (active c. 1719–1750) titled Deane the Seat of Sir Henry Oxenden Baronett. The work depicts a bird’s eye view of a large English country estate with sprawling gardens, orchards, and farm fields. It is titled to the lower center with a coat of arms in the middle, and the artists’ names are printed in either lower corner. The piece is presented behind a layered French mat and glass in a painted gold tone wood frame with wire to the verso for hanging.

Condition

- to Fair; fold mark running vertically up the center in the image; image paper is discolored; mat area is dirty and stained with foxing evident throughout; nicks and scratches around the frame.
