Item Details
A hand-knotted Kazak area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of muted red, yellow, pale grey, indigo, coral, amber-orange, black and tan. The field has four large eight-point floral medallions and it is densely patterned with rectilinear designs of peacocks, roosters, horses, cats, stags, and ‘S’ hook motifs. It is framed with eight-pointed star pattern meander guard borders and a main border made up of alternating cartouche forms. Finished with double sewn edges and natural warp fringe to either end. Unmarked.
