A group of four hand-colored botanical etchings on paper titled American Chestnut, Common White or Grey Poplar, and Pride of India by Gabriel and J.N. Joly after illustrations by Pancrace Bessa (French, 1772-1846) and Mossy Cup Oak by Renard after Pierre-Joseph Redouté (French, 1759-1840). These prints each depict leaves and nuts from branches of the titular trees. They are titled with the common and scientific names to the lower center and have artists’ names to the lower corners. All are presented behind layered mats and glass in gold tone wood frames with wire to the versos for hanging.
Condition
- light edge wear to frames; discoloration to prints; some stains to backing paper.
