A vintage lithograph poster on paper advertising War Savings Stamps (W.S.S.), titled Keep Him Free, after listed artist Charles Livingston Bull (American; 1874–1932). The World War I poster depicts a bald eagle perched against a blue backdrop, as WWI-era planes fly below. Text to the top and bottom reads ‘Keep Him Free, Buy War Savings Stamps, Issued by the United States Treasury Department, Ketterlinus, Phila’. The image is signed in plate to the lower left. The print is mounted to a masonite backing which includes a hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- tears, creasing, scratches and surface wear to paper, with wear to edges and corners; stains and discoloration throughout print; print has been mounted to masonite.
