An oil portrait on board, a depiction of a man, cradling a duck in the crook of his arm, with a brass placard on the frame attributing the work to Aelbert Jacobsz Cuyp (1620-1691), but most likely not by the hand of the artist. The painterly piece depicts a bearded figure in a dark cap, a piece of paper in his hand and a black and white duck on his lap. The work is presented unsigned in a molded wood and gesso frame. There is a hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- fair; scuffing to portrait; heavily varnished; gaps between panel and frame; surface wear to frame; lower right corner has been broken and glued back; wear and chips to frame.
