Hand-Knotted Turkmen Ersari Bohkara Style Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Turkmen Ersari Bokhara style wool area rug. The carpet has been rendered in shades of crimson, wine, and black. There are three rows of octagonal guls with cruciform quatrefoil motifs in the interstices in the field. Multiple wraparound bands create an unresolved compound border infilled with stylized geometric and floral motifs. The selvedges have been finished by hand and there are short kilim skirts above wool warp fringe at each end. The rug is not marked.
