A hand-knotted Indo-Heriz area rug. This vivid, wool rug features a geometric floral design in a palette of midnight blue, cream, rust, azure and green. It begins with a polygonal medallion in rust and cream over a crenellated, midnight blue lozenge offset by deep, cream-colored spandrels. Populating the phases of the field are stylized palmettes, flowers, leaves and vines, elements that continue in the samovar-patterned main border, which is grounded in rust. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with tan cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
