Hand-Knotted Indo-Heriz Carpet Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Heriz rug runner. This Persian-style wool rug, attributed to Indian weavers, is rendered in a palette of garnet ivory, black, mustard and green. It begins with three vertically arranged Karaja-style star medallions over a garnet field. The field is filled with stylized depictions of vines, foliage, flowers, and palmettes. Framing the field are compound borders, including a turtle-patterned primary border grounded in black. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with tan cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
