A circa 1970s trial proof etching on rag paper titled Fata Morgana created by listed WPA artist and printmaker Letterio Calapai (American; 1902 – 1993). The abstract piece depicts a series of overlapping cloud-like forms rendered in shades of yellow, blue and grey against a cream ground. The work is signed ‘L. Calapai’ by hand to the lower right, titled to the lower left and inscribed ‘Trial color proof’ to the lower center. It is matted in cream and presented under glass in a gold tone metal frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso.

- foxing, mat burn, toning and discoloration to print and matting; wear, marks and scratches to frame.
