Item Details
A finely hand-knotted Sino-Persian area rug. This Chinese-made wool rug features an allover floral herati design incorporating crisply rendered, arabesqued palmettes, flowers, foliage and vines over a black field. The field is framed by compound borders, including a wide herati main border featuring meandering vines, morning glories, palmettes and wildflowers over cream. Flanking the main border are herati minor borders with broken edges over blush, crimson and celadon. The palette is black, blush, celadon, crimson, and cream. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with ivory mesh skirts and long fine wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
