Chinese Ming Dynasty Zhangzhou Ware Bowl

Item Details

A late Ming dynasty (1368-1644) Zhangzhou ware bowl. The bowl would have been exported ceramic ware known as Zhangzhou ware, or Swatow ware, produced in Fujian, China and exported to southeast Asia during the Ming dynasty. The bowl features spontaneously executed hand-decorated designs in pale blue to the exterior of the body and to the center well. It is not marked, as is typical for items of this age and origin.
