A hand-knotted floral area rug. This wool rug, attributed to Chinese weavers, begins with a floral, diamond lattice incorporating sprays of flowers, foliage, vines and ribbons over a burgundy field. The palette is burgundy, cream, green, powder blue, cornsilk, celadon and blush. Framing the field are numerous wraparound borders featuring abstract patterns over green. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with long, knotted wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
