Set of Haviland Limoges "Earthly Paradise" Plates
Item Details
A set of six plates in the Earthly Paradise pattern from Charles Field Haviland. These porcelain plates show botanical images to the centers, surrounded by a variety of wild animals, with each plate depicting different trees and animals. The plates bear a printed signature of the artist, Claude Beyer, and to the underside a maker’s mark and a Biblical quote, ‘And God made the beast of the earth after his kind and cattle after their kind…Genesis I-25’. The plates are also marked with numbers 1-6.
