Antique French Enameled Brass Inkwell

Item Details

An ornate French enameled brass inkwell. Presented is an inkwell designed with three overlapping trays. Each of the end trays features an attached urn shaped ink pot and small clawed feet, a fluted columnar handle with a drop-shaped loop at the top is attached to the center tray. The interior surfaces of the trays and bodies of the urn shaped containers are finished with red enamel. The brass bases, handle and accents on the pots are embellished with acanthus and gadroon details and traces of gilt finish. No maker’s mark noticed. Each inkwell includes a glass insert.
